Cory Monteith (b. May 11, 1982 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada) is a Canadian actor of film and television. Growing up in western Canada on Vancouver Island BC, Monteith held down a plethora of odd jobs while in his teens. Before discovering acting, he worked as a Wal-Mart greeter, a school bus driver, a roofer and a cab driver. It was while working as a cab driver, that a fare suggested that acting might be a good fit for him and he should take some lessons.
Monteith signed up for acting classes on a whim and discovered how much he really enjoyed it. Until Monteith realized his fervor for acting, his main passion was music. He has been a drummer since the age of four and played in numerous bands while growing up. To this day Monteith remains dedicated to music and would love to learn more about any and all instruments.
When Monteith turned twenty, he decided to move from the Island to Vancouver to give professional acting and modeling a try. Although he was scouted to go to Milan for modeling, Monteith decided to stay in Vancouver as he was quickly starting to book roles for film and television. Embarking on a new chapter in his life Cory landed guest starring roles in Supernatural (2005), Smallville (2005) and Whistler (2006). He is probably known for his work on ABC Family's Kyle XY, and MTV's Kaya. He also guest starred on an episode of Stargate SG-1 entitled "200" as part of a younger, edgier version of Wormhole X-treme: The Movie in a scene called "Teen Gate".
